A Gift in Your Will or Trust
By including Habitat NW in your will or trust, you can give future families a place to grow, build stability, and create brighter futures. You can designate a specific dollar amount, a percentage of your estate, or a portion of what remains after other gifts.
The official legal bequest language is:
"I, [name], of [city, state, ZIP], give, devise and bequeath to Habitat for Humanity Northshore West [written amount or percentage of the estate or description of property] for its unrestricted use and purpose."
A Retirement Account Beneficiary Gift
Name Habitat NW as a beneficiary of your IRA, 401(k), or other eligible retirement account. You can designate all or a portion of the account by updating your beneficiary information with your account provider.
You can give your attorney or account provider this instruction:
“I would like to name Habitat for Humanity Northshore West, EIN 72-0921695, located at 1400 North Lane, Mandeville, LA 70471, as a primary beneficiary of [percentage]% of my [account type and account identifier]. Please help me complete the account provider’s required beneficiary designation and obtain confirmation that it has been recorded.”
A Life Insurance Beneficiary Gift
By naming Habitat NW as a beneficiary of all or a portion of your policy, you can help make safe, affordable housing possible for future generations. Contact your insurance provider to update your beneficiary designation.
The policy owner should use the insurer’s beneficiary change process. The designation can allocate a percentage of the death benefit to the charity.
“I would like to name Habitat for Humanity Northshore West] EIN 72-0921695, located at 1400 North Lane, Mandeville, LA 70471, as a primary beneficiary of [percentage]% of the death benefit under my life insurance policy [policy identifier]. Please help me complete the insurer’s required beneficiary designation and obtain confirmation that it has been recorded.”
Gifts of Stock
Habitat for Humanity NW has partnered with Merrill Lynch to handle the coordination of the donation of stocks. Our contact person, at Merrill Lynch, is Anne Boudreaux, 985-246-6442. She will assist you with the necessary paperwork to complete your donation of stock to Habitat for Humanity NW and then will inform us of your gift.
For a gift now — instructions to a financial adviser or broker:
“I would like to donate [number] shares of [company name and ticker symbol] directly to Habitat for Humanity Northshore West, EIN 72-0921695.”
