Helping to tackle the need for affordable housing in St. Tammany West

Right now there are hundreds of families in Abita Springs, Covington Foldsom, Madisonville and Mandeville who can use a hand up.

Many people don't realize the impact of the post-Katrina housing boom in our parish. The disparity between local wages and housing prices has continued to rise, forcing long-time working class residents to live in intolerable conditions or move away--driving housing prces up and long-time working class residents out. If teachers, nurses, police, firefighters and retail employees can no longer afford to live here, our services will deteriorate and the eintire dommunity will suffer.

Habitat Carpenter Club members have donated from as little as $10 to over $1000 this year to help Habitat build 100 homes within the next two years.
