Give us the Dirt! We’ll build a Home!

It is no secret that all non-profits face daily challenges as they strive to help the community and Habitat for Humanity is no exception.  As we work to secure funding, volunteers and donations, land acquisition continues to be one of our highest priorities and one of our greatest challenges.  Prices for land in our area skyrocketed after Hurricane Katrina and those prices, unlike the prices of housing, have held firm.
So, what can you do to help?  

• If you own a property that is suitable for building  a Habitat home, we would love to speak to you.  A donation of the property is wonderful, but we know that you may need some of the equity out of your property, so we are happy to work with a donation / sale split.
• You may also own a property that we cannot use for a home site, in that case we will gladly accept your donation and then sell that property and use the proceeds to purchase land in an area that we are building in.
• If you are a builder or developer  in the area and would like to donate land, we are waiting for your call!

Please keep us in mind: you may have a friend, relative, co-worker, etc. who has land that we can use and your kind word maybe just the incentive they need to contact us. We appreciate your consideration.
