Habitat STW has accepted the challenge to help Habitat for Humanity Haiti provide earthquake victims relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction. Habitat for Humanity is setting a goal to help 50,000 families affected by the Jan. 12th earthquake in Haiti.

Our affiliate has committed to raising $5,000 by March 31st specifically to help our friends in Haiti. We hope you can join us.

Generous partnership, such as yours, over the years has enabled our organization to serve our community’s families in need of decent, affordable shelter. Today, we are asking you to extend your reach to families of another community in great need of our help.

The poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere, long plagued by instability and disasters, has suffered another blow. A magnitude-7.0 earthquake, the worst to hit the Port-au-Prince area of Haiti in 200 years, struck Jan. 12, exacting a massive toll in lives and property damage.

Habitat for Humanity is in Haiti, as we have been for 26 years, to serve low-income families in need of shelter. Now more than ever, we need caring friends to join us.

Through the years, Habitat staff in Haiti have been building and repairing houses, providing housing microfinance, and offering training for construction trades. Now they need more support to take on the pressing tasks involved in cleaning up debris, acquiring and distributing construction materials and tools, and constructing transitional shelter that can help families achieve a stable home life.

Our assessment team is on the ground in Haiti, making plans for Habitat’s contribution to the recovery. Our worldwide experience in post-disaster reconstruction, disaster mitigation and long-term development has shown us time and again that people like you are willing to open their hearts to families who are suffering and in desperate need of housing solutions.
