Committees

If you are interested in joining any of these committees, contact the committee chairs at the email addresses or phone provided. Please check the Events and Meetings Calendar for Committee meeting dates and locations.

Habitat for Humanity has always advocated for low-income families; however advocacy became an official function of Habitat with the introduction in 2006 of the Advocacy Pilot Projects, of which HFHSTW was one of five affiliates chosen to participate.  Advocating for low-income families on affordable housing issues not only allows Habitat STW to serve more families, we are also speaking out on behalf of those who do not have a voice in the policy-making/political arena.  The HFHSTW Advocacy Committee will meet quarterly, with e-mail discussions as advocacy/policy issues arise.  If you are interested in serving on the committee or just want to receive Advocacy Alerts via e-mail, please contact Candice Mancuso , Grants Manager & Advocacy Liaison at 985-893-3172, ext. 229.

The Faith Relations Committee builds partnerships with God and faith communities in west St. Tammany Parish to build simple, decent, affordable homes with and for people in need.  The Faith Relations Committee will seek to strengthen our partnerships with area congregations to fulfill the needs of the local faith community and HFHSTW through prayer, volunteer opportunities, sponsorship and tithing.  The committee reaches out to all faith based organizations and provides a concrete opportunity for people to put their faith into action.

The committee organizes and carries out application, interview, and selection processes. We find the families who fit the criteria of need for shelter, ability to make no-interest loan payments, and ability to partner with Habitat for Humanity.

Works with families through sweat equity, home ownership education, home purchase process, adjustment to new responsibilities and continued partnership with the organization. The committee is responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating this aspect of the program.

The Development Committee serves as a liaison between Habitat staff and board, helping to develop and implement long range strategic plans and sustained giving to ensure that the fiscal needs of the affiliate are met.  Members serve as ambassadors, sharing Habitat’s mission with the people of west St. Tammany Parish, developing relationships, and encouraging new and continued donations of resources, as a means to eliminate sub-standard housing in our community.

Women Build empowers women to build homes, enabling them to positively impact the lives of families by making homeownership a present reality. Women Build committee members seek to bring in new resources of volunteers and funding to further the home-building mission of Habitat for Humanity St. Tammany West.

This committee helps coordinate and fundraise for Habitat STW's annual Family Brunch & Bowl Annual Event at Tiffany Bowling Lanes in Mandeville. The event raises funds to build a safe, decent home with a qualified partner family in west St. Tammany.
